When God Does a New Thing

This month, God has been whispering something new into my spirit — and I can feel Him inviting me to perceive it.

A New Month. A New Thing.

When God Does a New Thing

Can you hear the excitement in the voice of God when He speaks in Isaiah 43:19:

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Originally spoken to Israel in Babylonian exile, these words reminded them not to cling to the former things but to expect God’s deliverance. And that same heartbeat still reaches us today.

God’s “New Thing” — Here and Now

God’s new thing is His transformative work breaking into our ordinary days. It is the shift from desolation to renewal, from broken to beautiful, from what was to what can be in His hands.

A Way in the Wilderness

When God says He is making “a way in the wilderness,” He is revealing His nature as the One who creates a path where none exists. He brings hope into places that feel tangled, confusing, or disappointing. He steps into the moments where our expectations have collapsed and reminds us that He is never limited by what we see.

Streams in the Desert

“Streams in the wasteland” speaks of His miraculous provision — His ability to breathe life into spiritually or emotionally barren places. We’ve all known those moments when everything looks opposite of what we prayed for. And then, suddenly, in the lowest place, He moves. Exceedingly, abundantly, beyond all we ask or think, He steps in. Whether He stirs the pool or parts the waters, He meets the need with precision and compassion.

When We Don’t See Movement

And when nothing seems to be shifting on the surface, something else is happening beneath it. He opens our eyes. He adjusts our perception — gently, quietly, protecting dignity while revealing truth. His whisper is so profound that we know we have encountered His holiness.

We begin to see His hidden work breaking through the dry ground. A sprout appears. Evidence. Hope. The beginning of His new thing.

All glory to God.

A Prayer for This New Month

Lord, open my eyes to the new thing You are doing, and give me the courage to release what was so I can walk fully into what You have prepared.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are the God who delights in creating new things. You give us new years, new months, new weeks, new days, new mercies — and You make us new creations. So we thank You for this new month, a month that will be full of new things from You.

You do not ask us to rehearse disappointments, to replay mistakes, or to carry the heaviness of what didn’t go well last month. Instead, You invite us to wait with expectation for the new thing You are bringing forth. You open our eyes to see that this is not just a change on the calendar — it is a divine reset.

Lord, give us courage and strength to release everything that did not go as we planned. Release us from the pressure of what we could not control. Heal us from the regrets of what we wish we had done differently. Open our eyes and ears to the wisdom of how to walk in grace and spiritual order.

As we step into this new month, open our eyes to fresh mercies, fresh pathways, fresh strength, and fresh opportunities. Give us a fresh vision of the new thing You are revealing. Give us new hope.

Let us hear Your declaration: “I am doing a new thing.” Let us hear Your promise that You are making a way where there seems to be no way. Let us hear Your assurance that You are causing streams to rise in the dry places of our lives. Help us to see that what looks dead is only dry — and You alone determine each drop of rain.

Lead us into this month, Father. Guide our hearts, minds, and spirits to walk with expectancy and hope. Open our eyes to the signs, the wonders, and the movement of Your hand. Remind us not to remain in old cycles, but to carry new grace, new strength, new clarity, and new opportunities.

Teach us to walk into this month with hope, with joy, and with vision — knowing that You are ahead of us, that Your provision has already begun, and that breakthrough is already unfolding.

Guide us into the new. Teach us to perceive the new. Teach us to embrace the new. Teach us to walk in confidence, because You have already gone before us. You established the plan for our lives before we were placed in our mother’s womb.

And as we take our thoughts captive, open our eyes to the new things You have prepared. Your sheep hear Your voice, and they know it is You. Speak to us day and night, night and day.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
